Is the Learning concept new?
How does one learn to unlearn what they have always done. These are the questions I asked myself as I went through this workshop on learning for Organizational Development. Occasionally I would look out the window and stretch my imagination by looking at the table mountain, it gave me a good reflective mood.I would watch the cloud cover, come and cover parts of the mountain, then stop, then start again. Then someone told me, when you see the clouds cover like that, you should not even think of going up there. It would be extremely cold.Looking at something you like, i realised can calm you. Just like one would look at the waves as they come and go in the oceans.
With that reflection, I realized that an internal review of oneself was the way to go if really one wanted to start unlearning and reorient oneself to start learning anew.
The concept of transformational learning kept on resonating. Learning for change, learning to transform and learning that stretches the consciousness. However learning as we went on also meant that there had to be a shift in the realm of emotions and this would improve one’s actions. In the end really it meant that in order to learn, one had to be open to learn from a range of relationships and allow oneself to be shaped by that relationship.
